Hi all
I am stocking a 125g and a 55g with mbunas. I am thinking about ordering 10 juvies of the following species and as they grow and interact with each other move them to either tank. Excluding the Maingano, the plan is that depending on how they sex and behave some will end up in a 1:4 ratio on both tanks, others will be in a similar ratio in only one of the tanks. Maybe based on adult size Acei and Chitimba should be restricted to the 125g (?)
1. Labidochromis caeruleus
2. Cynotilapia zebroides Jalo reef
3. Iodotropheus Sprengere (not so sure about ordering the rusties)
4. Pseudotropheus acei
5. Petrotilapia chitimba
6. Pseudotropheus cyaneorhabdos Maingano (shooting for a 1:9 ratio to be kept on the 125g)
Now, my concerns are:
I like P. chitimba but there is not a lot of info out there compared to other Mbunas, do you guys have some feedback on this fish needs and compatibility?
Are any of the species in the list incompatible?
I am aware that any mbuna can crossbreed. However, some are more prone than others (e.g. metriaclima and labs), especially when not kept in a proper m:f ratio. Are any of the listed fish more likely to hybridize? For instance the two species of Pseudotropheus or the Cynotilapia and the Petrotilapia?
Any other advice will be appreciated
Cheers

Re: stocking a 125g and a 55g
First three in 55G, last three in 125G with 1:9. 30 individuals is more than enough for a mixed gender 72" tank.
To minimize crossbreeding, choose fish with different genera (which you have done) and that look nothing alike (which you have done).
Petrotilapia are large and aggressive.
