I've about had it with my FX5

Postby eighteighty » Mon May 20, 2019 1:37 am

I’m getting the typical cavitation which I cannot get to go away. Tank looks like a snow globe. I’ve reduced thickness by half on my one fine polishing pad and running ceramic rings and course sponge. Bubbles.

I tried again tonight and the water is barely trickling out of this thing. Probably 10 gallons an hour slow and the whole thing is clean as a whistle.

Any suggestions other than throw it in the trash and get another FX6?

What is the order of pads, rings, media. If you are running pads anywhere but the top, you are starving it. Also, any gunk or buildup in the intake/exhaust lines?

Also be sure the intake rubber connector to the intake strainer is a couple inches under the tank water surface to avoid sucking in air.

How old is your fx5?
Have you been doing any maintenance on the o-rings/seals?
How often are you cleaning the filter sponges?

And what the others have said.
