Holding question

Postby hartebreak » Sun Feb 10, 2019 7:23 pm

Pretty much a newbie in Africans. First off, I think one of my rustys is holding, what say you? I just noticed it last night. I know that they typically hold for 23-28 days, without witnessing the actual spawning and fertilizing, how can one tell how far along a holding female is?

I am not seeing anything from that angle. Is she eating?

It is difficult to tell with that picture. Under the mouth will have a noticeable bulge if the female is holding. You really can't mistake it when you compare to fish that aren't holding.
