New tank stocking suggestions

Postby MahaB » Fri May 18, 2018 5:47 am

Hi,

I've recently upgraded my 3 footer 50 gallon to 135 gallon tank(72L*24W*18H). Now it is cycling with old media.

Current Stock is below:

3 L. Trewavasae (1M- 2F) with fry
1 M.estherae( Albino Male)
1 P. Demasoni( Male)
6 L. caeruleus (2M- 4F) with loads of fry
2 I.sprengerae(1M-1F) Holding now
1 Hemichromis guttatus

Planning to add some more mbuna and few haps along with the existing stock. Looked around some LFS and found some available options

Mbuna:

Socolofi
Johanni
Maingano
Auratus
Kenyi
Red zebra

Haps:

N.Venustus
N.Livingstonii
C.Moorii
C.Borleyi
Electric Blue Hap
D.compressicep

Can u plz suggest any of the above options which may suits with existing stock ?

I wouldn't add anything. The 3ft tank is very limiting when it comes to stocking Africans. How long has the fish you have now been in there?

Ignore my post, I didn't see the 6ft part, that's what I get for posting so early.

With that being straightened out, what would you like? Most mbuna don't play nice with haps, labs work pretty good. If your set on keeping your current stock I would work out the male to female ratio and call it done.

I would skip the haps and increase the number of females for all the mbuna except the demasoni. Don't save fry.

Not going to pair M.estherae and demasoni. Also rusty is not coloring up, it looks brown always and so not interested in increasing its numbers.
Can i add some acei or johanni and C.Borleyi ?

Acei should work but I would skip the borleyi.

Thanks DJR and everyone for your suggestons.
I'm using sunsun 304A and 2 eheim 2217 now, is this enough for the tank and stock?
