I have a electric acara. What are my options on stocking fish. How many?
I now have a bunch of other random fish in with him now. They will be eventually gone.
I do have a electric yellow, Melanochromis Auratus ,Metriaclima Lombardoi. The names came from another post
I'm pretty sure I messed up getting the last 3 fish

Re: Acara tank mates
Moving this post to the South American forum. As discussed in another forum, the 36" tank is too small for the Africans.

Re: Acara tank mates
With just the acara I would do a school of tetras and small catfish or pleco for the bottom. Lots of driftwood maybe a few easy plants.

I agree, the last 3 species are not a good combo with the Acara.

Re: Acara tank mates
I had thought that Acara ate tetras. Is that not the case?

A really big one might eat Neons and Cardinals and smaller tetras, but they don't have big mouths, and typically top out around 6" in the aquarium. Most of the larger tetras should be fine...
