Keeping Otocinclus
How many ottos should I keep in my 20 gal tank? It's pretty heavily planted and I'm planning on keeping a small school of them for algae control.

They do like to be kept in groups. I'd add 6-10.

The more the merrier. Be sure to feed them well. They have big appetites and need regular food in addition to whatever they graze. Many often starve to death from being underfed.

When I kept them in the past, I fed them zucchini slice and sheet of nori.

You may want to mix in some of the high quality gel diets like Repashy and/or some algae tablets for added protein and fat.
