I am wondering if there are any Peacocks that color up faster than others?

My Strawberry Peacock and Sunshine Peacock have had color since I got them (about 2 inches). They have both colored up more since then, about 3 months ago. My other Peacocks are Blue Regal, Red Shoulder, and Ruby Red. None of them are showing much color at all. They are about 3 inches right now.

If they are the dominant species in the tank they will start showing color at a couple of inches.

OB peacocks (hybrid) are pretty colorful from the get go.

It also could be that the strawberry being a hybrid and in the red color family is intimidating the pure peacocks and the ruby red. In an all male tank some will show max color and others at the bottom of the pecking order may show little or no color. The strawberry may be dominant.

Ok... So hybrids (the strawberry) are colorful from very early on. That explains his colorfulness.

My Sunshine Peacock, I'm convinced that he is the dominant Peacock of the tank. Both because of his coloration and his attitude. So that explains his coloration.

And hopefully with some time, my others will show a little color, but probably less if they are subdominant.

So I guess to answer my question... There aren't any Peacocks that color up faster than others. There are Hybrids and OBs, which are in a class of their own. And there is THE dominant male, who will color up faster than the others.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

Hybrids can be more aggressive than other peacocks which adds to the chance that they will be dominant.

Wow, and here I thought I had done enough research before diving into Africans, haha.

What are some other common names for Hybrid Peacock variations? That way I can avoid them when I'm at my local fish shop.
