Black marks on my Peacock

Postby draper1221 » Mon Jul 27, 2020 12:01 pm

My German Red Peacock has a couple of areas on his tail that look like someone scribbled on him with a black sharpie. He is perfectly healthy otherwise. These marks have been on him for several weeks. I have had the fish about 6 months. Does anyone know what causes this and how to treat it. This is not Black Ich. The black areas are not raised. No other fish in my 150 Gal tank has this and my water quality is perfect. I do 50% water changes weekly. Any input is appreciated.

Sorry, I should have included a picture. Here are a couple of photos of the black splotches.
This is a blow up of his tail

It looks like a subcutaneous hematoma. Most likely it is a one-off thing resulting from a ruptured blood vessel, which should have no long-term consequences. In any event, there is nothing you can do about it. :fish:

Thank you for the response. He is healthy otherwise. Maybe it will go away eventually.
