Labeotropheus species identification?

Postby dfarci » Wed Jul 22, 2020 11:34 am

These are listed as Red Mumbo Labeotropheus, and are what appear to be trewavasae based on body shape. Any ideas if this name is valid, or if they belong to one of the newly identified species? L. chlorosiglos, L. simoneae, L. artatorostris? Male is pictured first, female second. They do not hold still at all!

Without getting into a taxonomic debate about Labeotropheus trewavasae vs. L. simoneae, this looks like L. simoneae to me. Pretty fish!
