Hi,
We have a Saulosi species tank, we kept it species only due to us starting out with African Cichlids.
My son and I did the tank together he loves red and would love some red in there.
How would we if a good idea at all add a German Red or Ruby Red Peacock just a single male?
Appreciate the time.

What are the dimensions of the tank?
If you have 48x18 and you are not saving fry, a hybrid like dragon blood might work.

It’s a 48 - 24”
We are still raising fry so maybe best steer clear for now.

Re: Adding Peacock with Saulosi
In general mbuna are too aggressive for haps and peacocks so the combo of a not-too-aggressive mbuna like saulosi and a more-aggressive-than most peacock like a hybrid has a chance to work. Have a rehoming plan.
I would not try this with a different mbuna, or with saulosi and a german or ruby red. These fish are really more orange than red in person.

The only mbuna that I would consider peaceful enough to go with pure-bred peacocks are Labidochromis caeruleus.
