Postby magila » Tue Jan 14, 2020 3:57 pm

Does anyone have experience with them or know something about them (aggression?)
I can't seem to find any info about them.

I've never heard of that 'species' and an online search only shows it at that website. Just a guess that it is a cross breed and definitely not as attractive as the Labidochromis sp. 'mamba'.

Mbamba has a reputation for being pretty aggressive anyway, and I would expect as Deeda said that this is a hybrid with Metriaclima OB so maybe even more aggressive. Females are drab.

I doubt it is a hybrid. The store/breeder is a highly reputable shop who specializes is cichlids and is against hybridization...It is the place where Ad Konings used to work and found the love for the african cichlids. Also the place who publish many of his early books.
They even have fish named after them...

I highly doubt such a place would sell a hybrid as a "special" fish...

Ill ask them about it next time im in the neighborhood.

I do not see an OB morph of Mbamba on Cichlidae which is a paid subscription website where I believe Ad Konings continues to publish.

Maybe it has recently been discovered in the lake and publications have not come out yet?

Don't know what they are, maybe a mutation that someone found, like missing black pigment.
