1000 Gallon pond stocking

Postby Bron21 » Sat Jan 11, 2020 3:21 pm

Hi there!

In March I’m looking to build about a 2x2x1m pond in my yard and I’m considering putting a group of all male peacocks in. The pond will be heated all year round and there will be a net over the top as well. Can someone please help me figure out how many peacocks I could stock the pond with?

This is a 7.5 foot pond. The problem with all male is there are not enough peacocks that don't look alike but maybe you can get away with 3 of each species because the shape is like a double wide 7.5 foot tank.

I would try for 40 fish and do 3 of each. That means you need to choose about 13 species that look nothing alike to manage aggression.
3-Red or pink or orange peacock (one of these colors, not all three)
3-Yellow peacock
3-Aulonocara Usisya (also yellow but OK with other yellows for some reason)
3-Blue peacock
3-Red shoulder peacock

6-yellow labs. These are mbuna, but with only one yellow fish and all the rest basically blue...extra yellow is welcome.

The rest are haps. Not much in the way of other peacocks that are not red/yellow/blue.

3-Protomelas xxx Taiwan Reef
3-Placodichromis electra
3-Copadichromis azureus
3-Mylochromis ericotaenia
3-Otopharynx tetrastigma
3-Astatotilapia latifasciata (Victorian, but they do well with Malawi haps/peacocks IME)
125G Borleyi, Multipunctata
75G Demasoni, Msobo, Lucipinnis
75G Calvus, Similis, Petricola
