Maturity and nest building

Postby VaranusPanoptes » Sat Oct 12, 2019 8:04 pm

One of my juvenile polit cichlids has dug himself out a nest under a rock and is guarding it. Does this mean he/she has reached maturity or is getting closer to maturity.

No, they all dig and defend a territory.

Aside from that, Polit may spawn at that size. Is it a male? Did he color up? Is he chasing females?

Its a purpl-ish hue and I can't tell the sex yet. The other polits are smaller and probably not attractive yet.
