1st time feeding for Africans ordered online

Sat Aug 04, 2018 12:08 pm

I ordered 39 peacocks & haps online and am wondering when I should first feed them. They were in transit traveling by ground & air for over two days.

They're all around 3 inches and have been in my 450gal for about 21 hours now and are looking really settled. Most of them have been together and just resting/relaxing in-place the last 16 or so hours, some nudging but no agressive chasing as yet. When I come in front of the tank none shy away and a few come a bit closer and face me.

Should I try feeding them after 24 hours?

Why not feed them now? Try some food and see how they react. A reputable seller would have fasted the fish for a couple days before shipping to limit waste production while the fish were bagged to reduce fouling the water.

You can feed them just feed lightly to start. If they are healthy they will eat.

Ok I fed them some Northfin pellets and they all ate really well.
