Where to find Metriaclima lanisticola

Postby MrConfused » Thu Feb 15, 2018 5:55 pm

I was looking at the cookie cutter tank setups for the 29 gallon and was interested in the Lake Victoria/Malawi combo one. The problem is I can't find Metriaclima lanisticola anywhere online, I was going to look it up to see what the price would be etc. but it's just not for sale anywhere. Is there a different name this fish goes by that is more common than the scientific one that I could search for?

It's not a common fish. You could try posting a want ad in the classifieds or calling some of the vendors to see if they can find some for you.

Is there another fish that would fit in the same kind of setup with the trio of Ruby Greens that is a bit more common?

• Haplochromis sp. "Ruby Green" - trio
• Metriaclima lanisticola - 5
• Ancistrus temminckii "Bristlenose Pleco" - 2

No. I am actually surprised that a trio of ruby greens is recommended for a 29G.

If you want to try them in a 29G I would skip the lanisticola.

I just bought a group at the GCCA swap from Madtown Aquatics a few weeks ago.

Not sure if they sell online but MadTown aquatics is a fish breeder located in Madison, WI and does have them available.
