Possible female in all male tank

Postby [email protected] » Sun Feb 11, 2018 12:11 am

The other day I stopped in a LFS with a friend and ended up buying a 3" yellow lab and a synodontis cat. I was told the lab was male. However when I called the store today to ask a question about the cat I found out that he told me the lab was male based on the fact that it has the black markings. From what I understand both males and females have black on them. The rest of my fish are all male peacocks and Haps that were purchased online. The lab has been doing great in the tank but if it turns out to be a female is she going to be harassed by or breed with one of my males. None of my other fish look anything like a lab but I do have 2 hybrids, an OB peacock & an Apache.

You're right about both having black markings. Female labs have always been ignored in my all male hap and peacock tanks.
