Found Fluval canister leak ?

Postby kentc64 » Fri Feb 01, 2019 10:57 pm

I posted earlier this week regarding a leak in my Fluval 304 canister filter and after some investigation I discovered a leak in the Aquastop. It seems this is a common flaw in Fluval canisters based upon my reading.A new acquastop is on the way but I have a question ??

I`m concerned about creating a flood when I remove the defective acquastop..My thought was to lower the water when I do my weekly maintenance a little below the output inside the tank and then remove the intake from below water level and get it above water. Then perform the swap out and finally refilling the tank.

Will this idea work?

Can you get it above the water line or pull the intake out of the tank? I'm not real familiar with the 304 though.

You can set the filter in a trash can to catch most of the water.

Note: I could no longer edit my original post as I reread your original post and noticed you mentioned removing the intake.
