Oscar cichlids temperatur

Postby ElTiburon » Wed Jun 26, 2019 5:19 pm

Quick question.
My 120g is cycled and ready for fish and I was going to get a pair of oscars however today I glanced at my thermometer and it read 82.9F. Everything I have read has said to keep them in 75-80F. Would this three degrees be an issue? This temperature was recorded was with both my 250w and 150w heater turned off (thought I plugged them in but did not).

Oscars do fine in any 80's temps. In the wild they are found in a wide range, low 70's to low 90's. My Oscars live in average 82 degrees. Thing to watch is what temps were they in before you get them. Acclimate slowly if their previous home is far off your 83. Suggestion though... 120g, depending on footprint is going to be tight for a pair of adults. Oscars can reach a foot long by their first birthday. Tank would make a good long term home for a single.
