Suitable SA tank mates?? Not the usual question...

Postby ButchAZ » Sat Sep 08, 2018 1:59 pm

I have a new 46 gallon planted tank set up. My ultimate goal is a pair of Apistos (species yet to be determined, but I like mcmasteri a lot). Those will be the only cichlids in the tank. Not looking to try to force the issue with multiple non-compatible types of cichlids.

What I’m looking for is suggestions for suitable tank mates that stay with the northern SA/Rio Orinoco system theme. The tank has just cycled, and I got six small otocinclus cats, and five rummy nose tetras to kick things off.

Just looking for other ideas on tankmates, hopefully without a lot of drama (in the tank or here!).

Thanks!

I have a school of Buenos Aires Tetras in with my SA tank. Really love the color of them and they school nicely together. They're plenty fast so they never get nipped at.

Post some pics when you're set up!
