Bolivian Rams & Cockatoos

Postby FinsandFeathers » Wed Dec 20, 2017 1:29 am

I've been interested in Bolivian Rams (Mikrogeophagus altispinosos) and Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids (Apistogramma cacatuoides) for a while now. Unfortunately, my high PH well water didn't seem like a healthy fit for them, so I never tried them. Now that I have softer, lower PH water, my interest is piqued again, and I have an empty 75g that needs fish in it.
I also read that both prefer planted tanks to thrive, but live aquatic plants and I don't do well together. Is it possible to keep either, or both, species in a tank with realistic artificial plants?
Also, would the 2 species do swell together in the same tank, or would separate tanks be preferred? What other fish of any family would work well as tank-mates?
