Hey all,

Here is my 90g SA Cichlid tank. Semi planted with anubias, amazon swords, and java fern (and a couple moss balls). Have a few pieces of driftwood (mopani/malaysian). Currently have 2 emperor 400 HOB's (will be adding a 406 in the future), and 1x 300W heater.

Stock:
1x Gold Sev
1x Angel
2x EBA
4x RHT
1x BN Pleco
4x BA Tetras

Still a work in progress, I would like to build some depth to the tank by introducing a variety of plant species and sizes. I failed miserably with hairgrass and wisteria as my Severum made a quick snack of it all, but will continue with the java/anubias. Any other advice is appreciated. I was told I may be able to add amano shrimp, but I would be concerned they'd just be expensive snacks.

Nice looking tank!

You may want to consider a black background to add depth. It would make your plants and fish stand out as well.

Tank looks sweet.

The only potential problems are:
the BA tetras nipping the angelfish
the severum eating some of the plants
the RHTs spitting sand into the filter intakes and destroying your filter.

My geos spit sand everyone and ruined several HOB filters. That is why I only use canisters.

Nice tank!

I am pretty sure the EBAs would eat the shrimp but I have never tested that theory out personally.

That is good to know. I have never had an HOB on one of my earth eater tanks. What does the sand do to the filters that causes them to fail?

Gets in the impeller housing and causes it to grind.
