Carbon in Discus tank, yes or no?

Postby Kmontoney » Sun Jul 16, 2017 3:52 pm

My step daughter is setting up a discus tank with some rams and is getting conflicting information about whether to use carbon in her filter or not. What is the opinion of this forum?

the vast majority on here will say no carbon. Carbon is used only for removing meds when done treating tank. The only other thing I use it for is filtering new water I add to either for water changes or setting up a new tank. That's only because I have well water.
A properly stocked well filtered tank has no need for carbon.
