Geophagus brasiliensis

Postby Speedy87 » Sun May 21, 2017 5:51 am

Hi guys

I have two juvenile geos and noticed within a day one was chasing the other and having a general go at it, I monitored this and the behaviour seemed to worsen so I took them back to the store, I was told I have a pair and the female is in fact the one been aggressive as she's holding, I reintroduced them and I have witnessed them lip locking since... is this normal?

Not sure what she would be holding as Geophagus Brasiliensis are not mouth brooders. They are cave spawners, they do not normally lip lock either. What size tank do you have them in?

Can you post a picture of them? maybe they are not brasiliensis? maybe they are Pellegrini, Steindachneri, or Crissalabris those are all mouth brooders.
