Sponge Filters

Postby ramsay458 » Sun Aug 06, 2017 4:32 pm

Hi
Setting up some breeding - fry tanks I'm not experienced with sponge filters can I speed up the tank cycle with some of my sponge media from my own external filters ? And use tank water from my main tank ? Any other tips welcomed.
Thanks.

Using the media from your established filter will speed up the process. Tank water doesn't actually carry much beneficial bacteria unless you were to squeeze your dirty sponges into it.
