General Aquaria Discussion • traveling and want to seek out new places to buy fish

I am flying to florida and will be buying a car there and driving home to southern Md. and would like to visit really good aquarium and fish providers along the way. Input would be greatly appreciated.

I can't help you but I am in the same quandary. I will be traveling from Louisville, KY to Northern New Hampshire. I've found <vendor name removed> in Louisville. Has anyone had good luck with them?

You can check through the retailer reviews by area, and see what comes up. It's been a couple of years since I was in Florida, but I've never found any good pet stores there. The fish farms can be pretty interesting though, and I think some do sell direct to the public. That is probably what I would look for.

That could be a lot of fun. If it was me here is what I would do.

Buy 5-10 battery power air pumps to take with you in your luggage.
Bring a air pump large enough to run 10-15 air stones/filters.
25 foot of air line, valves and connectors.
When you arrive in Fl hit the local dollar tree and pick up some foam coolers.
The main air pump you can hook up to the lighter to run all day while you drive then at night switch out to the battery powered ones. Put the fish along with any water they come with in the cooler and keep them in the back set the temp should be fine just don't park in the sun.

As for where to stop that is hard I'm sure they are lots of places and it will depend on the fish you want. Like Fogelhund said fish farms might be a good stop. If it was me I would find a WC oscar in FL only because I love those guys and always wanted to go down and catch one.
