Websites that are now defunct

Postby Darkskies » Sat Apr 02, 2016 10:26 am

Hi everyone,

It seems that as time has gone by certain websites that had a wealth of information and articles have now become inaccessible. Namely, I am referring to "The Skeptical Aquarist" and "Aquarticles". I can no longer read or browse the posts and articles on these sites. In the case of "The Skeptical Aquarist" he had been posting updates until 2014 and yet when I click on the posts, the links leads to a dead end. Aquarticles used to have over 300 entries(now dead links at least for me) on various fishes and aspects of fishkeeping. Does anyone know how I can still access these? I'm thinking I should be more vigilant and try saving any new in-depth information I find to my computer from now on..

Does anyone have an idea as to how to retrieve these articles and information that might now be lost on the web? Should this have been posted in a different forum where it can get more traffic? If so, mods please move my thread. Thank you.

http://skepticalaquarist.com/

Seems he still exists.

https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://sk ... arist.com/

If not then you can go to archive.org and use the wayback machine. Only works if they allow archival though.

But you would have to remember the url.

Thanks for the link to the wayback machine! The Skeptical Aquarist home page functions all right but if you click on any of the postings it sends you to a "Not Found" page. The problem seems to be resolved by using the wayback machine. Awesome archives.
