I was at my LFS they gave me a really nice looking pair of leopard spotted catfish was told that in africa they help cichlids breed they take the eggs and hatch them or something? My friend the LFS owner showed me! Not sure how true it is i wanted them anyway and got a male and female. Has anyone heard of it? I really wanted them to start with if it is true wow.

Well, the story is turned completely around. The catfish sound like Synodontis multipunctatus, though there are a few other similarly spotted species. They do not help the Cichlids breed, but rather lay their eggs with the Cichlids. Their fry hatch faster, and eat the Cichlid eggs right in the mother's mouth.

If it is multipunctatus, they are much happier in groups, I would get five.
