Blue Acara with deformed pectoral fin?

Postby NicKarla » Tue May 02, 2017 6:32 pm

I picked this acara up 2 days ago and noticed that it had some fin damage, nothing major but it had shared a tank with some GTs that had fin nipped a bit. Looking more closely the pectoral fins appear to hang down and look very odd. Is this normal? It is a young fish at about 5cm so not sure if it will grow into them of this is a deformity.

That's a Green Terror, and I would cull the fish unfortunately. If he/she's by themselves you could try to grow it out a bit and see if the deformity corrects itself. I just feel that the fish has "Nemo" status with his fins and will get destroyed by tank mates..
