Bought a second tank. Need help identifying its residents.

Postby Tichrondus » Fri Nov 08, 2019 4:13 pm

Hey all!
Im at work now, but wanted to see if we know what kid of fish I have in this new tank. I bought an assortment of "misc. medium african cichlids" from a big box retailer since my only LFS is super sketchy. Ill upload more pics but I had one peacock color up really nicely so I grabbed a pic before I left today. I know about the Golden in the top of the frame though.

Doesn't look like anything pure, just a typical mixed peacock. He looks nice though.

If you think I have any of these wrong, you're likely correct. They are all fairly new. So I doubt they are all fully colored up yet. 90 gallon tank with 12 total fish (i have 2 ice blues and the red shoulder above.) I currently have an FX6 hooked up. Any advice/statements about the fish. Im new to cichlids

1. Zebra Obliquidens male, a non Malawi cichlid
2. Kenyi, if male will turn dull yellow
3. M. auratus male... usually called Auratus since golden is such a vague name
4. Jewel cichlid, a riverine substrata breeder from West Africa
5. these are specialty hybrids with trade names, so you can call him a dragon's blood and it isn't wrong or terribly meaningful either, might be female and never color up any more
6. small fat Venustus
7. albino Socolofi or albino Zebra, hard to tell if a pure fish
8. Yellow Labidochromis
9. vague Aulonocara, might be one they would sell as a "red"
10. they might sell as "Ice Blue", really just a Zebra hybrid, not a pure Greshakei
