HELP HELP HELP Blood parrot is a TERROR

Postby aallene » Sat Oct 07, 2017 12:37 am

I have a 55 gallon tank with green terror, convict, blood parrot and tiger oscar. The parrot and the oscar have been together nearly 3 years without incident and within the past few weeks blood parrot has formed this odd obsession with oscar. It doesn't matter what the oscar is doing or where he is. Even if he is hiding the parrot will swim across the tank go into where he is hiding and terrorize him by biting and tail slapping, circling and flaring gills.

At first I thought the parrot was attacking over territory but that has nothing to do with it as I have rearranged the decorations several times. I have also lowered the temp of the water. Nothing has helped. The parrot will even attack the oscar when they're feeding. It's as if its an obsessive compulsion. Is there anything I can do?? Should I just get rid of the parrot? I LOVE my parrot and do not want to get rid of it! Please help!

What are the tank dimensions?
What are the size of both fish?

Re-home the Oscar since he's taking most of the beating. Fish harassed constantly end up with weakened immune systems and can catch and spread illness. Not to mention a 55 isn't enough tank for an Oscar.
