Leleupi/ brichardi and tank cycling

Postby Lloydminster » Wed Apr 10, 2019 10:42 pm

Ok first of all can I keep a pair of bricahrdi and a single lelupi in a 20 gallon?

Second question I need to cycle an aquarium if I do it with a single one of either of these species will they survive or should I just get a few barbs to do the job?

I would not keep either of those fish in a 20G and not together probably in any tank.

Cycle the new tank by using a portion of the established media from the existing tank. Or run the new filter on the established tank for 2 weeks. Not necessary to cycle with fish.

I don't see N. Brichardi on the 20G long list?

I do see leleupi there but I would keep them in a larger tank.

I have a pair of N. pulcher (Daffodil Brichardi) I'm keeping in 20G Long ... they are a little under 4" and they just spawned.

Obviously, as the colony grows, they are going to need more room.

Same same as DJ on the filter.

Ok I hear you about the breeding habits in a tank this small with no other fish for brichardi. What if this is flipped though what if I did a pair of julie transcriptus an then a single brichardi that way there may still be some breeding but likely the brichardi will also snack on the odd fry and keep numbers down? Is this feasable?
