Lamprologus ornatipinnis compatible with multies?

Postby Neolamprologus » Sun Apr 07, 2019 7:50 am

Ten months ago I got 3 multies. They have a 32"x12"x16" practically completely to themselves. The male is 1.4", the two females 1". They do not seem to grow anymore and have not spawned yet.
I use tap water: pH about 8.5, GH 13.

These days my online seller offers 1.4" juveniles of Lamprologus ornatipinnis real cheap.
Could I add one male and 2-3 females of these larger growing fish to the 32"x16" setup?
I'd like to see fry of both species.

Thanks in advance for any reaction.

I would not do that. Avoid the experiment of finding out if they will kill each other or mate across species lines. Separate tanks is fine. For me ornatipinnis needed a bit bigger tank than their size implied. Perhaps i just had an aggressive male. But he had two females at the far ends of 55 and them and their fry staying away from the center of the tank.

Thank you. (Even if late.)
I'll follow your advice.
