Tropheus dub. With another tang cichlid spec.

Postby Justinfront12 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 2:18 pm

Got a of tropheus 19 looking to add another 5 or so to the group. In a 4 foot tank at the moment but will be going into 6 foot tank shortly this week.
Question is would sanddwellers about 8 young ones do okay with them about 2-3 inches in size?
Thanks

Picture of them. Still at the store. Love to have them. Thought would look nice with the two species in nice large tank middle of the room

Not a good mix. Something more robust like Petros, Simochromis or a pair of Gobies would be ideal. I think I might try some Callochromis but I personally would stay away from the Xenos.

I have had sand sifters with Cyps but never with Tropheus.

Depends on the featherfins. Two male Foai and Furcifer will take up the entire bottom of a 72 x 24" tank floor and Ventralis and Boops are plain nasty (IME).
Perhaps If you only had one male and the sandsifters aren't Xeno Papilios. Maybe Dwenti and one of the less skittish sandsifters might work.

I have kept featherfins (foai) with cyps. A good combo with cyps mid tank and top of tank and the foai more to the bottom.
