I have a bristlenose with pool filter sand and it does well.

yeah, I've had mine in tanks with fine argonite sand, but never playsand...
i just thought when they lay on the bottom, it'd be hard to breathe without constantly having playsand drawn past their gills...
i just thought it would aggitate them.
anyone successfully used bristlenoses with playsand?

Why not use a slightly larger grade of sand? Playsand is usually rather fine-grained stuff, harder to siphon w/out sucking it all up than larger grades.

the only stuff i can get in my area is playsand, bricky's sand and crushed argonite...
playsand is tiny, bricky's loam sand is too dirty and sharp edged, crushed argonite is like 1mm-2mm... pretty large for little shelly's.
