Hello,
I was given 29 gallon tank with single cichlid. Maybe 4-5 inches in length. I like to add more fish to the tank keeping in mind size of tank and identification of this fish. Thank you in advance for your help.
At first glance, it appears to be a Texas Cichlid, just not sure if it's pure or hybrid. It has a bit more growing to do, perhaps double it's current size. The 29 won't even be big enough for the one fish, much less any others. Also, this is a moderately aggressive type of Cichlid, so I wouldn't trust it with other fish right now.
Pretty female Texas. Will easily outgrow a 29gal so I'd either rehome her or start looking for a larger tank (something 4ft long). Definitely don't add anything in with her in that size of a tank.
Thank You! We do have a 55 gal with typical tropical fish. I could swap out the tanks. If i were to do that what type of cichlid would you recommend and how many?
I'd say cyanoguttatus hybrid. Somehow doesn't look right for a pure Texas.
