I bought 6 wild fish and 4 tiny fish from Bob late in the week. I asked when the fish will be shipped via email and he said wont be early next week so I plan my meetings at work. I left a voicemail to call me back but heard nothing. On Monday I get an email when I was at work saying package was shipped so I had to take abrupt day off of work. Then one of the adult fish was sent to me with early stage of pop eye. I initially thought it was just ammonia burn on the eyes so I didnt make a big deal out of it. When the fish did not improve I reply all to Bobs email to me about the shipment thinking Im telling people who work there about the shipping status and it turned out to be other customers. I ended up being scolded and told I lost my privileges there and that I should consider my water was the cause. First off, why dont you BCC your customers on mass email blasts instead of sharing everyones email with each other? Secondly why would you ship the fishes without coordinating the date? Also I put the fishes in a fresh QT with water that was perfectly clean and aged so how could a fish develop pop eye in my tank in less than 24 hours? The fish in less than 24 hours have dropsy I believe as it swelled up. I was told fishes were carefully inspected. Really? because one of the larger fish had a big piece of gill plate missing that I didnt even mention. Only positive was that I was refunded the money for the now dead fish without asking for it.
"You pay cheap prices but you get inbred fish with deformities"
After much deliberation, I finally took the cich herpes plunge. It was a mistake. The customer service was short and rude. I spent over 200 and was treated like I was asking for a handout on the street corner. The fish were shipped in poor condition. Lost 2 of 17 the following day. I expect to lose 0. That's what I pay for. When I order from Bluegrass Aquatics, Florida Tropical Fish Direct (Mike's Cichlids), South East Cichlids, Tom's Tanganyikans, Dave's Rare Aquarium Fish, Atlantis, random dude on aquabid...ALL OF those people would sell me higher quality fish. The fish are either inbred or have fish TB, either way, a huge problem for my fishroom. I may end up taking the loss and culling them all. So do yourself a favor, don't catch the cich and herpes like I did. Buy your fish somewhere else.
"It just doesn't get any better than Alison Lowe!"
What better time to say thank you than on Thanksgiving?!? I've had the true pleasure of working with this lady for several years and she is a CLASS ACT! I've seen her professionally negotiate with fish collectors in Africa and have seen how much they respect her. Thanks again Alison.
We found hard-to-find fish at Cichlids and Herps Unlimited. Alison is very knowledgeable person, every time responding quickly, patiently and politely. We got fish by the "same-day cargo airport-to-airport" shipping. Fish were wrapped very well and they were in very good condition, started to eat without any problem, we are very happy with them and they are doing great. If I wanted to buy more fish, this seller would be my first choice. They have a great selection and excellent service. Thank you very much, Alison!!!
I have placed two Tropheus orders (as well as Dainichi food) from Alison at Cichlids and Herps and she has been nothing but patient, helpful and extremely knowledgable! All the fish came in well packed, healthy and beautiful! I would not hesitate to buy from her again. Thanks Alison!
Excellent , well conditioned petrochromis. I never had any real problems with any of Alison's petro shipments. Always well packed and prompt delivery. But what I now look for in an importer/dealer is INTEGRITY and that goes a long way with me, because there is too much junk going on out there. I Can't wait to see what other new petros Cichids and Herps are going to bring in next.. Alison knows the petro that I am really waiting for, and I have faith that if anyone can get that petro in, it is her. I would recommend to any new or experienced petro hobbyist that they should try Cichlids and Herps at least one time if you see your desired petro in her inventory list or incoming shipment listings. If you don't see your desired petro in her inventory listing, ask her if she can get it for you. All of the petros that I have purchased from Cichlids and Herps I have been able to spawn them very quickly. CICHLIDS AND HERPS IS WHERE YOU WILL FIND QUALITY PETROCHROMIS AND INTEGRITY.
I was searching for a group petros and tropheus and had contacted 4 different stores before trying out Cichlids and Herps. 2 of the stores were site sponsors with good reviews and they didn't even respond to me when I tried to order. They're the only store that got back to me in a timely manner letting me know what they have in stock and prices for the entire order. All my e-mails were answered quickly and the fish came in looking great. The WC petros and f1 tropheus that I got all ate the same day and all look great. I would definitely order from them again.
