(04/04/2017) Again, need to update my review because of the extreme professionalism from LiveFishDirect. Josh really cares about his customers and making sure they get what they paid for and are fully satisfied with the online fish buying process. He went out of his way from his busy schedule to contact me to see what went wrong and was able to get me new fish. He was in constant communication with me throughout the process. I'm extremely impressed with the fish I received today which tells me that the occurrence of receiving a bad fish is rare or something happened during the shipping process that is not at the fault of LiveFishDirect. Therefore, again I would highly recommend purchasing from LiveFishDirect without any fear because they will take care of you to ensure you get what you expected! (03/23/2017) I'm sorry, i need to update my review. I have purchased from LiveFishDirect twice, purchasing a total of 9 fish. While I still respect and think the customer service is A+, I have to downgrade my rating of the fish I got. I ordered all male tanks ranging from 2-3inches. 3 of the 9 i received came back with problems. It's been almost 3 months since I purchased it and I have seen these 3 fish not eat and one had sunken belly. I recently visited TheWonderofCichlids out of MA, and seeing the fish and comparing what I got...there is no comparison. My fish from LiveFishDirect are still silver/grey, honestly I'm not 100% sure if i even received male
Ordered 18 cichlids, 1.5-2 inch unsesexed "premium." I messaged Josh about possibly getting 1 male and 5 females of 3 different types of cichlids. He said this was doable. I still don't know if I actually got these ratios, but I would be seriously impressed if I did. All fish arrived on time and healthy. Two had big parts of their tails missing, but nothing they can't heal from. The rest are in seemingly perfect condition. Customer service and communication with this company have been great so far and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Easy communication, with cordial follow-up after order was placed (added order to same delivery charge) with wonderfully heat packed box for NE Wisconsin... yeah, its early here, but its already below 35 degrees. Definitely won me over for future orders.
I received my order of 11 peacocks and haps a couple of days ago, and I am extremely happy with the order. All fish are very healthy, sizes were exactly what I had ordered, and other than two of the smaller fish the colors meet or exceed the descriptions on the website site. The two smaller fish not as colored up as I was expecting based on the descriptions are the Mloto Likoma and the Taiwan Reef, but in the grand scheme of this excellent order that is very minor. If I order online in the future this is the first place I will look to, and will not hesitate to order from LiveFishDirect again.
We have a new 125 gallon tank that we are systematically stocking. My fiance has had fish tanks for years, this is my first one so I'm on a steep learning curve. After purchasing some tiger bards to start the setup/cycling of our tank we moved on to our main goal...Lake Malawi Cichlids. We purchased 3 at a local fish shop and then after more cycling of the tank we were ready for our first large grouping of fish. After much thought to which fish to buy and research into the best places to buy we settled on Live Fish Direct. We ordered 15 fish from them and immediately found out there was an issue with our delivery date. Live Fish Direct contacted me and worked diligently to find a delivery date that would work with my schedule so I could be here when the new fish arrived. I was so excited to see our new fish and bummed I might miss them entering the tank. Live Fish Direct went the extra mile to help us solve the problem and I'm grateful. Even better...when the fish arrived we were beyond pleased with the group. We will definitely continue to buy from Live Fish Direct due to their large selection, fantastic 3customer service and good pricing!
I have ordered fish from LFD now three times and all three times have been very pleased with their product and service. Just took advantage of a free shipping promotion and received 4 show quality adult male Haps that take my breath away. My tank is now truly a show tank thanks to this order and the previous ones from LFD. No doubt the most attractive fish in my tank came from Them. If I was starting a new tank today I would just stock it from LFD right out of the shoot. Josh is great to deal with and the website is so friendly to use. Highly recommend this company for your fish stocking needs.
First time buying fish online and while I was a little apprehensive I couldn't be happier. I bought 20 mbuna under the "Pseudotropheus Assorted Malawi Mbuna Mix" heading. To stock a new 55G. Josh picked me some beauties and exactly what I wanted. Super healthy and vibrant. 1.25"+ size.
Ordered on a Thursday morning and they arrived the following morning.
I specifically emailed before I placed my online order to ask Josh if it was possible to not receive any albinos - not my thing. He got back to me within the hour and said NP.
It sucks to pay shipping but you can't avoid it, and when you average the cost out over what you buy you are still paying below LFS and it's easier, the fish are better IMHO from our LFS. I love to support the LFS but man you can't beat the quality, price, or selection at Live Fish Direct. Never-mind the connivence!. Recommend 100%.
I'm now eyeing a "sell off" for my 135G so I can re-stock it with Josh's beauties.
I wanted Cynotilapia sp. "Hara Gallireya Reef" & they had a picture of the Cyno "Hara Gallireya Reef"; but had a dubious/misleading name as follows: "Cynotilapia Sp. "Hara" Gallireya Reef white top afra hara" . The fish I actually recieved were Cyno. Afra Metangula.
Although the mix up happened, all I had to do was email Josh & he explained that they had just moved/reorganized some breeding colonies around & he would update the picture. Josh really stepped up with excellent customer service, making it right & a positive experience ! Top notch customer service, I won't hesitate to continue ordering again !!
Lots of positive feedback on the forum. Here's my experience. I wanted an all new male hap and peacock show tank. I set up a new 125g and did my homework. Forget the LFS, and I've searched the Internet. I saved so much time and money going to Live Fish Direct. I dealt with 1 person (Brian) via phone and emails. The process was seem less and stress free. I have 30 different male Haps and peacocks, alive, well, and beautiful in my 125. This was a no brainier, I could not have accomplish that any easier.
