"C-220 Excellent quality, affordable price"
The large media trays make media cleaning and replacement a snap, and they hold a ton of biomedia. The included instructional DVD is really helpful. I also received a replacement set of o-rings in the box.

"Very Easy to use"
I bought a c-360 about a year ago. I developed the same leaking problem listed in the other reviews. I contacted Marineland and had to read them a number off the unit. They sent a new motorhead in a week or two and had not had one problem since then. I love the filter and would recommend it.

"Good Filter"
Marineland does offer O-Ring replacements. All you have to do is call them.

Mine also developed a leak but my leak was caused by manufacturing defect. Marineland stepped up to the plate and replaced the motor head free of cost, even outside of the warranty.

Great customer service.

Most of the reported leak issues were the result of this same manufacturer defect that has since been repaired. But even with that repaired you still need to take one precaution, do not allow the hoses to pull or push on the valve block. Cut the hoses to be the exact length needed, without a bunch of slack pulling down on the valve block.

With that simple precaution, these are excellent filters. No bypass is not marketing hype, it's reality. Not to mention that the C-360 holds more media than any other filter in a comparable price range.

"Don't waste your money on this one."
I purchased the 360 for my 46 gallan bow. After six months or so the canister filter began to leak (bad o ring). Sadly, Marineland does not offer replacement o rings. What a dissapointment!

"I have two that work great."
I think this is a great filter. Can be easliy customized to anyone's needs. The only problem i've noticed is when I have the valve block disconnected during cleaning it leaks. I have to set the valve block in a pot or bucket while I clean the filter. I tried to tighten the screws on the bottom of the valve block to stop the leak, DON'T DO THIS. I figured out that if you get them very tight that when you hook the valve block back up and push the lever back down to open the flow back up it won't open and will have very little flow. This is why people are having flow problems. Loosen those screws just a tad and you will regain flow. Other than that it has no leaks while in operation and does a great job.

"Great! buy it"
I own 2 of the 360's, and one of the 530's.
Easy prime,easy set up,
easy use.price is more than fair.(even though free is better) I would recommend!
After reading other reviews I had to comment on the leaking issue.I have never had one leak...Am I lucky?
Or maybe the issues have been fixed.

"Just what I needed"
360C - Love IT!!!

This is my first canister filter and it couldn't have been easier to setup. Keeps the water clean and so, so quiet. Next week I am going to rinse the sponges so will see how it goes as I have heard there can be problems here and there with that. Will update review afterwards.

The video on here in the Library section was very helpful too.

"GPH is way under what is stated on the boxes"
I had two C220 on my 55gal. the flow rat is very weak the output does not even break the surface of the water to create oxygenation also the low flow rate causes a lot of debris to stay in the hoses and blows it back into the tank when you restart the filter after water changes and I don't have time to break down every filter weekly to clean the hoses out risking the lose of ben. bacteria due to over cleaning of the filters I have Fluvals on all my other tanks and they are much better the housing of the marine land filters also seems brittle and likely to crack I now use the two I have as extra filters on other tanks as a back up. Their main selling point from retailers is that they come with all the media you need and other filters don't however I would rather select my own media depending on the water conditions I am trying to maintain in a specific tank I would not recommend them unless its free and you need an extra bio filter. Also I check or do clean my filters monthly during water changes and never allow to much build up of debris to cause constricted flow rates.

"Great filter for the price"
March 28,2009: I have only owned the C-360 for a month now.I like every thing about it.Most of it already said in other past reviews.
I noticed that other reviews on the internet that a lot of people are having leaks with the C-360 after a few weeks or months.I noticed right away why a leak problem may occur in this filter. The hoses that come with this filter are large and heavy when filled with water. If you just slightly move the hoses, you can see the entire valve block move.If you have a long length of hose that is free hanging I am sure this puts a lot of stress on the valve block assembly that could warp it,wear out the o rings or even crack it over time. That's why in the past I have always supported the hoses with plastic ties, heavy string or a custom clamp of some kind to any canister filters that I have owed in the past.I have done the same with the C-360.Hopefully I will not have any leaks in the future. I really think this is one of the best performing and designed canister filter made except maybe for the valve block assembly.I will write another review in a few months.

Update October 4,2009: Its over eight months now and this filter is working great. Its whisper quiet, water is crystal clean and its easy and convenient to clean. I have no leak issues at all. I still think this is one of the best performing and designed canister filters made.

"Cleanest Water I have ever seen!!!!!"
I have only had this filter for about 1 month. But the water is crystal clean. I'm actually thinking about buying 1 more due to my overstocking and my pleco that loves to poop everywhere.

"Effective and easy"
I know a lot of people seem to be having problems with their Marineland cannisters, but I've had my 220 going for about 6-8 months with no problems at all. The only complaints I have are small--I wish their reassembly arrows on the pans were in red or something easier to see, and I have a little trouble getting the top off. It seems to seal too well. I have to give a bit of a pry with a butter knife. It does a great job keeping the water very clean, though, and since I got it on sale I consider it a great deal. I clean less often than with my Eclipse biowheel, but it does take longer at each cleaning. These filters are a bit labor-intensive. I feel like it's an appropriate tradeoff, though. I, too, would appreciate a spray bar but I think I'm going to rig something up.

"I've just set it up. Within an hour, my tank is cleaner than with the previous filter."
Re: C-220
The unit comes with a DVD instructional. They recommend watching it once through before setup. They're right. Previewing the vid makes everything very understandable. Then you can pause the vid while you execute the setup. The priming feature is indispenseable. It's so nice to keep my hands out of the tank when dealing with this filter setup. The media trays are versatile and oversized which allows for an excellent water flow. The final bonus is a noiseless operation and it's easy to tell when the media needs changing cause the water flow slows down...giving you ample notice that it's time for maintainence. I've had Eheims, Fluvals, and other brands over the years. This is the best unit I have ever owned and operated. It's rare when a piece of new equipment can breath new life into this hobby. Simply the best tank related purchase I've made in many years. Although I haven't had it long enough to know it's reliability over time, I will certainly write another review some months down the road...after I've changed out medias a few times.

"No trouble at all"
I have been using 2 C-360 on my 55gallon for about a year now and still no problems. If I look closely at the outlet bar...you can see it suck up a great amount of waste that is in your tank! the water flow isn't so bad either! Instead of the bio balls (for my sump now) that came with the canister i used ceramic rings! lots of it! If you are looking for a filter that will work with no trouble then buy one of the C series!
