This stuff works - no doubt about it. However, it is more sensitive than the Malawi buffer in two ways. First, it is much stronger, so if you are going to use it to get a PH level of 8.3-8.6 instead of 9.2, use less than they say. Second of all, you need to let it sit for a while after adding it to the water. Initially you will get a higher reading and after 4-12 hours, the PH will drop and than hold (in my experience). For example, If the PH reads 8.3 after adding it to the tank and letting it spread out. The next morning (12 hours later) it will likely read 8.1 or so. It does seem to hold after that initial drop however. This may be because I am not putting in the full recomended dose. I want my Fronts at 8.3-8.6. I don't see the need to keep them at 9.2.
