It took me hours to clean this stuff and still it took my aquarium weeks to get totally clear from this stuff. It did look darker in the bag but after washing it, it was a lot more light color. The buffering of it is pretty good for an african cichlid tank and works pretty well with shell dwellers from what I have found. Just make sure to clean it thoroughly before putting it in the tank!

"Great texture and color,very dirty"
This a really good substrate to mix a bag with other substrates.Makes a great combo look.But I must say this stuff was the dirtest substrate I've ever used.I rinsed for over an hour,solid black.Believe me what it looks like in the bag is all dirt.But the end result is very great looking.Be prepared to wash alot.Don't add directly to the tank!!
