Short Clip of my Peacock Cichlids

Postby yogifizz » Tue Jan 24, 2012 3:38 pm

Hi all my first ever video upload here.

It is just a short clip of two of my wild caught peacocks, which have paired off.

unfortunatley this video was under "moonlight" conditions. will get one under "daylight" conditions uploaded soon.

I'm sad to be the one to tell you these "OB peacocks" are not wild caught. They are not found in lake Malawi. They are man-made hybrid species.

Hi Des I was under the illusion OB peacocks had orange and black? these have no orange or black on them what so ever.

They are white, pink, blue and purple.

Have I been done?

The fish in the flickr link isn't a peacock. Its Mbuna.

Your 185,000,000 greats Grandfather was a fish. So was your 185,000,000 greats Grandmother. Which is just as well, or they couldn't have mated with each other, and you wouldn't be here.

Maybe mine is a mbuna then, I was only guessing the breed. I went back to the importer today to collect some more, and they advised all their wild stock is kept seperate on immediate arrival.

I do however doubt that they are a breeding pair, to me they appear the same - no difference on the fins at all.

I may change them, at £50 a fish I don't want to mix Tank Breds with Wild stock. I do have a 100% money back guarantee on them being wild caught and a pair.

As per the ID thread, your fish are indeed man made OB Peacocks... hybrids, man made and not wild. Do take them back.

Those are really nice OBs. It's not a naturally occuring fish though. It'd be like saying you had wild caught blood parrots.
I don't know if I'd take them back if you like them. Maybe get some of your $ back though and forward this thread to the person.
