I would stock it like a 55G because of the bowfront shape. This gives you yellow/orange fish, blue barred fish and rust/purple fish.

I would do mixed gender mbuna, and I suggest these:
3m:9f Pseudotropheus saulosi (new name is Chindongo saulosi)
1m:4f Iodotropheus sprengerae
125G Borleyi, Maleri, Astatotilapia, Multipunctata
75G Demasoni, Maingano, Msobo, Lucipinnis
75G Calvus, Caudopunctatus, Petricola
55G Chrysonotus; 38G Demasoni
33G Hara; 33G Kwanga; 33G Maingano; 33G Cobue

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. Honestly after looking up a little about each of them it sounds like a real solid idea. This will be my first tank but I've had the tank for a month already I've just been taking my time learning the water chemistry and things of that nature before bringing some fish home

Make sure you cycle it with ammonia before buying fish. Allow six weeks from the first addition of ammonia. See the Cichlid-forum Library for an article.
