Need help, something bad may be going on in my tank!

Postby KSHOW » Wed Apr 05, 2017 4:01 pm

Hey guys, I have had a 75 gallon Mbuna tank running fully stocked for almost 2 years now. In that time I have only had 2 fish die..until recently. I have had 2 additional fish die within the past 2 weeks. Both had almost identical symptoms. It appears as if they were attacked, as they have wounds around their entire body. Both times it has been the 2 biggest fish in the tank. I find them completely vertical or even almost upside down in the tank barely moving but still breathing. Both fish died within a day of this happening. All other fish look healthy and nothing has changed. My water change schedule is the same, and nitrate levels are in the safe level. I am hoping it was just a fight and not some sort of disease. The picture is of the 2nd fish which died, but the symptoms of both were identical. The fish is still alive in this pic, just barely breathing along. What do you guys think?

The question being, did they get beat up and die, or did they get sick, and then beat up?

Hard to say. I think you are going to have to keep a close eye on things, test the water.. find out if there is an aggressor, or if it is another problem. Pretty hard to tell from behind our keyboards on this one.
