Red Fin Borleyi Female?

Postby srivel » Tue Apr 04, 2017 3:07 pm

Hi,

I recently purchased this fish from an online vendor as male Red Fin Borleyi. When this fish arrived, the gills of this fish appeared swollen as shown in the pictures below. Initially I was wondering the swelling was due to some sort of gill disease. After reading the forums, now I wonder this fish could be a female holding eggs. Pls. let me know if this is a male with some disease or female holding eggs. Thanks.

It doesn't appear to be holding, and could very well be a male. Females finnage are typically more rounded than that.

Thanks. He has slightly swollen gills and chin. Its been a week since he arrived and the swelling did not enlarge. He seems to eat normally and pretty active. Any medicine you recommend?
