It's hard to tell... some of the Hara floating around now.... the barring and markings simply don't look like you'd expect from wild types. Quite a bit of variability in many of the Cynotilapia anyway.

DJR got me all worried. She is correct as it is alot of black compared to most pics floating around the web but there is also alot of differences in those fish as well. Heres one of the males..http://i.imgur.com/rUpHlfy.jpg

Probably a Hara, but just not necessarily the markings that you would want in a breeding program.

I would not have thought anything of it, but I've never had hara be as aggressive as you describe. Individual personalities, I guess.

I kind of agree with DJR. I too have Haras in my tank, and actually 2 males with about 6 females. My males too do not have that black on their dorsal fine, and they are both very placid. Not really that aggressive.

I sent off some pics to a well known Malawi Guru if you will. Does a Safari to Africa every year and very knowledgable. Anyways he said its definitely Hara but I should introduce some "new blood" if i wanted to carry on the strain. I will most likely just be purchasing wild caught Hara from him and rehoming my current group. Thanks for the input folks!
