N. Brichardi or Helianthus w/ Mbuna?

Postby bossanova9 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 1:51 am

Is anyone having success keeping either brichardi or helianthus in a mbuna tank? Could you share your experience if so? I realize it's not recommended, but would still like to hear from you if you've tried this in either. 4 or 6ft tank?

It's going to depend on the mbuna types kept. A singular brichardi is often ok with mbuna..

A breeding pair of brichardi....

With more aggressive mbuna, they will attack, and fight the brichardi types, likely damaging them, and eat all of their fry.

With wimpy mbuna, the brichardi will likely take over a good portion of the tank, attacking any mbuna that goes into their territory...

It is a very poor mix...

A single adult "Brichardi" might be mostly ignored and mostly ignore others. They are hardly delicate. If one had a "homeless" adult , one could put with Mbuna. Of course, if the tank was a warzone with large tough obnoxious Mbuna, then no fish would be safe.
