6'x18''x18'' stocking Metriaclima Chilumba

Postby Leonic » Wed Mar 01, 2017 11:05 pm

Hi all!

I was wondering what the ideal stocking is for a 6'x18''x18'' with Metriaclima Chilumba Maison Reef? How many pieces ideally? I'm getting them At 5cm. How many should I get to attain best ratio when they mature?

Cheers,

Leon

I would start with 15 to 20 fish. That 'should' give you plenty of females and your pick of the litter on a breeder male.

If those are the only fish that you will keep in the tank, I'd go with higher stocking numbers. These guys can be very aggressive, so the more the better. Something like 5-6 males, and 20 females. So, start with 40 young fish, and go from there.

For a 5x18x18 i'm guessing 30 is ok? I have both sized tanks.. not sure if i can get a hold of 40 pcs

If you start with 30, then you "may" end up with only 15 females (more if you are lucky). You will want at least 3 males (or only one male, 2 is never a good idea).

yes, 30 would be fine with a 5' tank. How many can you get? You could also use the 6', and stock with two species.
