75 gallon stocking help

Postby Urbs1022 » Sun Jan 08, 2017 9:53 pm

Hello all!

I am setting up my 75 gallon all male peacock/hap tank. What are your thoughts for stocking. I am thinking:

Aulonocara Sunshine Peacock Cichlid
Lemon Jake Peacock Cichlid
Mbenji peacock
OB Peacock Cichlid
Ngara Flametail Peacock
Sulfur Head Peacock Cichlid
Apache Peacock
Red Top Lwanda Peacock
Ahli Electric Blue
Super Red Empress Cichlid
Taiwan Reef Cichlid
Tangerine Tiger
BN Plecko

Any other suggestions? Is 13 enough for a 75 gallon?

Probably too much but i guess you are going to try anyway. Some fish will do okay, others won't. I suppose you could throw a few Yellow Labs to help crowd but then those are hard to sex.

Since so many of the fish are similar, there can always be problems. The Sulfur Head may color up poorly, and the Apache hybrid may be similar... or not, it's odd how few pictures there are of the Apache and how the pics may seem like completely different fish.... I guess the Apache has a good name.

Thanks for the reply Noki.

I am not instantly going to try, I posted here for thoughts of what I initially selected. I am new to peacock/haps as I have had a tiger Oscar for the past 8 years who has passed and I want to set up a nice Peacock/Hap Tank.

After more research I cut all the Jacobfreibergi as I have read they can be more aggressive. I cut the list down to 9 fish. What are peoples thoughts of this stocking in a 75 gallon?

Ngara Flaimtail
OB Peacock
Sunshine Peacock
Electric Blue Hap
Super Red Empress
Taiwan Reef
Red Top Lwanda

I would want 12 fish and maybe choose between timid and medium-aggression to get maximum color. Lwanda is a jacobfreibergi.

Timid are Ngara and Sunshine. Medium aggression are OB, fryeri, empress and Taiwan. Not sure about azureus and insignus.
