If you like the fish that much, just keep him in the small tank on his own. There is no reason that it won't do well in that tank, as long as the water parameters are kept up. It will have to be kept alone though.

im not going to throw my fish away because i cant afford a bigger tank. he isnt growing anymore

He should grow to about 6". Is he sick?

nope he is perfectly fine. he is around 4-5". I do regular water changes and feed him regularly. I also did a water test a week ago which showed no unusual results, all levels were fine, pH 7.8. I do not see any problems with him as he has been this size for over 6 months now.

I guess I'll just keep him with my pleco which he doesn't seem to harm and alter my decorations.
