Lake Malawi Species • African cichlid tank

I am new to the cichlid hobby.i am having a 30 gallon tank consists of red zebra and albino white cichlid.
i would like to know how important the light is for mbuna cichlid

Well you shouldn't keep these fish in the dark,but if there is adequate room light the fish will be fine. A 30 gallon tank is going to be too small for these fish.

thank you,currently i am having two halogen tube light fittied on the aquarium,i am putting the light on for morining 3 hrs and evening 3 hrs,
but i noticed that the fish color is getting faded especially for red zebra ,once i switched on the light.

It may be more related to tank size and stocking than the light.
